1. The Basics of Asexual Reproduction
Asexual reproduction is a method of producing new organisms that involves only one parent. Unlike sexual reproduction, it does not involve the fusion of sex cells (gametes). The entire genetic code of the single parent is passed on to its offspring. This process relies on a type of cell division called mitosis, where a cell divides to produce two genetically identical daughter cells. The result is that the offspring are exact genetic copies of the parent, known as clones.
